Sommar Norrsken

Driving home after the movie yesterday I and Daniel saw something really rare. Not just because it's rare in general but because you usually can't see it unless it's really cold, which is not normally the weather condition in Sweden during August.

Never the less we actually saw the northern lights yesterday, despite the warm temperature.

It was hard to recognize at first since it was really faint in color (probably because of the warm temperature) and since it was also foggy outside last night. But after a while I pointed it out to Daniel after noticing its distinct shape and movement, indicating that it in fact was the northern lights.

We couldn't see much of it from inside the car, but it was beautiful to look at once we got into the darkness of my backyard. It was literally everywhere above us and moving in soft silky waves. Shouted to mom and dad to come out and take a look at it too.

What a way to end a movie night about life in space!

This is how it looked over the northen part of the world last night. Aparentlly the northern lights was caused by an extra large solar explotion which particals could be seen on earth despite the hot weather.
